An interdisciplinary discussion meeting on patterns and geometry, and their role in biological and synthetic microstructured materials and tissue. We invite contributions from biology, chemistry, materials science, mathematics, physics and related fields addressing the genesis, properties and function of complex nano-scale geometries, as well as underlying geometric and topological concepts for the study of complex structure and shape.

closing remarks

The excursion and conference dinner are both included in the conference fee. Wednesday afternoon will consist of a 2 hour boat trip along the Spree river through the heart of Berlin. The conference dinner will be at the Alte Pumpe (Lützowstraße 42), an old industrial pump house, now restaurant.

In addition to the talks and posters, there will be a “collaborative building experiment” going on during the week involving basketry and surfaces, run by Alison Martin. It will be a space nearby the lecture theatre where you can spend coffee and lunch breaks playing if you wish.
